Where did the following gambling terms originate:

Laying 'chalk'
Laying 'wood'
'juice'

No, I dont need the figurative meaning...just their origins. Anyone have any ideas??

before computers, they had what was called "the racing wire",when odds on games & horses came in,it went from there to the board.

I believe it is called "chalk" because the BM is always erasiing the chalk board to ajust the line. "wood" I would think is the same thing only using a pencil. "Juice" I would think is the obvious the BM gets a little extra juice on his end
